    Transferring Lifting Repositioning (TLR®):

    It’s All About Time

    SAHO’s Transferring Lifting Repositioning (TLR®) program © is used by health care employers across the province to help reduce workplace injuries while ensuring safe client handling.  SAHO developed TLR more than 10 years ago to help employers meet Saskatchewan’s occupational health and safety legislation pertaining to safe client handling.  TLR is an important part of a comprehensive workplace safety program.

    This workshop is taking place in conjunction with SAHO’s annual conference to allow participants to visit equipment vendor displays and register for other parts of the SAHO conference.

    9:15 – 10 a.m. Morning Mingle – coffee & nutrition break

    10 a.m. TLR Welcome/Opening

    10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. TLR Concurrent Sessions 1, 2 and 3

    1 – 2:30 p.m. TLR Concurrent Sessions  1, 2 and 3

    TLR CONCURRENT SESSIONS
    Each concurrent session will start in the meeting room and finish with hands-on practice using display equipment in the commercial exhibition.

    1. Leading TLR (Brent Lustig, Consultant; Sindi Duncan, SAHO)
      Discuss various ways of achieving the 4Cs of TLR (commitment, consistency, communication and compliance/co-operation).  This session will provide motivational ideas, self-evaluation on leadership skills, and opportunities for participants to share successes and challenges and discuss solutions to challenges.
    2. Transferring and Lifting (Carla Schatz, SAHO; regional TLR instructors)
      This interactive, hands-on session will provide delegates with an opportunity to discuss specific challenging situations, including handling of bariatric clients. Transferring and lifting equipment will be used during the hands-on portion. This session will demonstrate the importance of taking the time to focus on the assessment and application of TLR techniques when using mechanical lifts, wheelchairs and other equipment.
    3. Repositioning (Theresa Banga, SAHO; regional TLR instructors)
      This session reviews the importance of taking the time for thorough assessment and application of TLR repositioning techniques. Presenters will respond to scenarios raised by participants, including questions on bariatric clients. Delegates will also have the opportunity to practice techniques with various equipment vendors using slider sheets, transfer belts and other repositioning devices.

    TLR WORKSHOP REGISTRATION
    Fee:  $125 per person at early bird pricing, extended to April 2. $150 regular price.
    Includes lunch and coffee breaks.
