The SMAHHR project is seeking ways to articulate an indigenous paradigm of human resource management theory and practice. This distinctly indigenous paradigm stands apart from, but is still very relevant to, the Euro-Canadian conception of human resource management theory and practice. We are developing our understanding collaboratively through five streams of knowledge such as a literature review and dialogue circles with Elders and health directors, and a series of action research projects with Tribal Councils who are part of the Northern Inter-Tribal Health Authority.
